Privacy

Last updated: 27 September 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how The Milbert (“we,” “us,” or “the site”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit themilbert.com. This is a personal photography and life blog. It is not a business, financial, tax, or legal advisory service.

Who we are

The site is operated for The Milbert. For privacy questions, contact us at iamthemilbert@gmail.com or use the contact page.

Information we collect

Information you provide

If you use the contact form, you may send:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • A message
  • Optional photos or other image files you attach

Do not send Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, tax returns, or other highly sensitive personal data through this site.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider and WordPress may automatically receive technical data when you visit, such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, pages viewed, and date and time of the request. Server logs and security tools (including a web application firewall) may retain this data to operate, protect, and troubleshoot the site.

Cookies and similar technologies

WordPress and plugins may set cookies that are needed to run the site (for example, to keep an administrator logged in or to protect forms from spam). We do not use the contact form to place advertising cookies. Your browser settings can block or delete cookies; some site features may not work if you do.

Comments

If comments are enabled, a comment typically includes the text you submit, the name and email you provide, and technical data such as your IP address. An anonymized string created from your email (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to see whether you use a profile image. See the Gravatar privacy policy. After approval, your comment and its metadata are stored and may be displayed publicly.

How we use information

We use information to:

  • Operate, secure, and improve the blog
  • Read and respond to messages you send
  • Review photos you submit and, if we choose and you have given permission by sending them, consider them for the blog
  • Detect spam, abuse, and technical problems
  • Comply with law and enforce our rights

Photos you upload are not published automatically. Publication is a separate, manual decision.

Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar laws)

If those laws apply, we process personal data where it is necessary to respond to your request, to pursue legitimate interests in running a personal blog and keeping it secure, to comply with a legal obligation, or where you consent (for example, by sending a message or photos).

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with:

  • Hosting and infrastructure. The site is hosted on GoDaddy Managed WordPress. GoDaddy and related security or caching services may process technical and site data.
  • Email delivery. Contact-form messages are intended to be emailed to the site administrator. If WordPress mail is not working, messages are still stored in the site’s form submissions. When SMTP or another mail service is configured, that provider will process message content and attachments in order to deliver email.
  • Form and site plugins. Superb Addons (forms) and Akismet (spam protection) may process form or comment data as needed to provide those features. Akismet’s privacy information is available from Automattic.
  • Service providers who help us run the site, under appropriate confidentiality.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect people, the site, or rights.

If a photo is published on the blog, it becomes visible to anyone who can view the site, and it may be indexed by search engines or copied by others. Only send photos you have the right to share.

Photos and other files

Image files can contain metadata (for example, date, camera, or location). We do not promise to strip metadata. Do not attach images you are not allowed to share, or images of people who have not agreed to that use, especially children. We may refuse, delete, or decline to publish any submission.

Retention

Contact-form submissions, including attachments, are kept as long as needed to review them, run the blog, and handle follow-up, unless you ask us to delete them and we are not required to keep them. Server logs are kept according to our host’s practices. Published posts remain until we unpublish or delete them.

Security

We use HTTPS and hosting security tools. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please use the contact form only for ordinary messages and photos related to this blog.

International transfers

The site and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have different data-protection laws than your own.

Your choices and rights

You can choose not to use the contact form. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal data, or to object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To make a request, email iamthemilbert@gmail.com. We may need to verify the request.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has submitted information or photos, contact us and we will delete what we can reasonably identify.

Embedded content and other sites

Posts may include embedded content (for example, videos or images) from other websites. Those sites may collect data about you as if you had visited them directly. Links to other sites are not covered by this policy.

Do Not Track and “sale” of data

We do not currently respond to Do Not Track browser signals in a separate way. We do not sell personal information as that term is commonly used in U.S. state privacy laws, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Changes

We may update this page from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
